Summer is here, and there is a stirring in the air. Longer days, summer nights, and sunshine fill my soul. Butterflies are dancing, robins singing, cardinals are in full display, and fireflies’ glow as stars fill the summer sky. Nature is in full bloom with all its beauty and synchronizes it’s time for renewal.

Did you ever capture fireflies at night after the sun went down, take a picnic to the park, make homemade ice cream, sing around the campfire, fish in the creek, run through the sprinkler, or star gaze at night? Summer is the perfect time to nurture ourselves, pursue our dreams, rejuvenate, and embrace self-care. It’s the perfect time for fun and relaxation; balanced with self-care. Whether it is sitting outdoors with a new book, taking a hike, going on a day trip, a bikeride, or picking up an old hobby, it will enhance your well-being.

Unrest in the world can stir anxiety and requires us to step back with mindfulness, pause, and have a reality check. Balancing self-care at times of uncertainty is important to our well-being. It’s important to take care of ourselves and be as healthy as we can be. Nurturing yourself and being good to you can help sustain you through tough times. What better time than summer to find a healthy escape from the stressors of life and give back to you. It is easy to be entoiled and burdened with the news media, and propaganda, but how does it benefit us, our brains, bodies, and perspective? I have often caught myself caught “in the web” of things I have no control over, worrying if it will affect me, my family, friends, community, and find myself in a spiral of anxiety.

I’m so thankful each day brings a new beginning with an opportunity to remind myself of my goals, dreams, and aspirations in life. A day to begin again and embrace self-care along the way. Embracing self-care will not only reduce stress but will enhance your outlook and help create a balanced lifestyle. I believe what we project comes to us, so today, I choose self-care, and I hope you do, too. No matter what season you are in your life or what is going on around you, be intentional, do what makes your heart happy, and find moments just for you. Nurture your soul, spirit, and body. Remember to have fun, focus on what you can do, and let go of what you have no control over. And be good to you.

Until next time – read, write, and learn…. J
